Spring is the optimal time for purification and detoxification. Ayurveda, the ancient healing system from India offers a huge range of cleansing procedures to flush out accumulated toxins and the heavy dense qualities from winter. This workshop will incorporate an educational and informative Ayurveda talk followed by a Dosha-specific cleansing Yoga practice.
Ayurveda practitioner and Yoga Therapist Sarita Blankenburg will introduce the Indian healing system of Ayurveda, it's history, philosophy and benefits, with a specific focus on seasonal diet and lifestyle principles, cleansing, and detoxification procedures, as well as tools and techniques for an Ayurvedic Spring Dinacharya (daily practice). We will explore the importance of the digestive fire (Agni) and our gut microbiome for a strong immune system and also Spring dietary suggestions and recipes.
Then Kara Sweney will lead a 30 minute yoga practice that complements Ayurvedic tools and techniques aimed to balance the aggravated Kapha Dosha.
Ayurveda offers a holistic approach which helps through diet, lifestyle, herbal medicine and Yoga therapy to regain balance, energy, and quality of life. The wisdom of Ayurveda encourages people to take responsibility for their own health in alignment with the different stages of their lives, the seasons, and the environment they live in. It acknowledges the unique nature of each person through individual constitutions (Doshas) and applies dietary and lifestyle adjustments, body therapies, and herbal remedies to assist in optimal physical and mental wellbeing.
