ABHYANGA is Ayurveda's traditional full body massage with a herbal infused medicated oil. This Abhyanga session lasts 60 min, or you can add a Shirodhara Treatment for a 90 minute session.

When you are ready to book your session you can contact us, or click here.

Ayurvedic massage is unique as it considers the individual's doshic constitution (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and recognises its link to the five elements (Panchamaha Bhutas). A dosha specific oil will be selected by the Ayurvedic Practitioner based on the individuals body-mind constitution. As a result, Abhyanga can correct Dosha imbalances due to diet, lifestyle or environmental factors.

Abhyanga activates and increases the energy flow inside the Nadis (energy channels), which are part of the subtle aspects of the body, related to the meridians. Abhyanga massage has an effect on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of an individual. With the skin being the gateway to the inner realm of our physical existence, these dosha specific oils are used to remove Ama (toxins, impurities) deeply seated in the bodily tissues.

Massage operates through touch. The sense of touch in Ayurveda is linked to the element of air. The skin is the main sensory organ related to the sense of touch. It is the instrument through which the human body can notice the tactile experience. The nerve endings in the dermis of the skin pick up the impulses of touch and transmit them to the sensory division of the peripheral nervous system.

Snehana (oleation) is an important part of Panchakarma to prepare the body internally and externally for cleansing and purification. Abhyanga is one of the many external oiliation procedures of Panchakarma.

Your Abhyanga massage will begin with a Shirodasa Abhyanga head, neck and face massage.

All our treatments are conducted in silence to facilitate an inwards journey of bliss.
